'Rambo V' in 2011
Sylvester Stallone will come back as John Rambo in the fifth series of 'Rambo'. It is currently slated for 2011 release. There are rumors that the story line has changed but filming is in progress. It's nice to see Stallone come back and doing A- grade movies. He did quite a few straight to DVD movies in the past and one wondered if he's slowly following Van Damme's path. After watching 'Rocky Balboa' and 'Rambo IV', he can still bring audiences back in theaters and throw some punches.

Christmas with 'Sherlock Holmes'
Robert Downey Jr. is back after the successful 'Iron Man' and 'Tropic Thunder' in 'Sherlock Holmes'. Joining him is Jude Law who plays his assistant and Rachel McAdams as his love interest. The movie is slated to release on December 25, 2009. Downey Jr. is a versatile actor and he proved it in 'Iron Man' and the 'Soloist', which are two totally different movies. I'm pretty sure that he can do justice playing the role of Sherlock Holmes.
Penelope Cruz in a new noir thriller 'Broken Embraces'
When I saw the trailer of Penelope Cruz's new flick named 'Broken Embraces', it reminded me of the old Alfred Hitchcock movies. I'm one of Alfred Hitchcock's big fan and I love his style of film making. What appeals me the most is the unpredictability of his story line. Going back to 'Broken Embraces', it is a Spanish film with English subtitles. It is the story of a man with two identities as a writer and as a director. He loses the love of his life 14 years ago and in the present day, he's trying to live using his second identity as a director. It's the story of treachery, abuse of power and guilt complex. This type of film is considered a noir thriller which used to be very popular back in the 40's and the 50's. The film noir is a stylish Hollywood thriller which deals with sex, betrayal and crime. I would really recommend watching it if you don't mind reading subtitles.

The Masters of Comedy in 'Grown Ups'

Imagine Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade in one movie. Well, they are all coming together in the next summer flick called "Grown Ups". Scheduled to release next year on June 25, 2010. It's the story about five friends and former basketball teammates who attends a reunion together to celebrate 4th of July with their wives and kids. The preview looks hilarious and one hopes that director Dennis Dugan would do justice to their roles. All of the above guys are great actors. If you don't already know, Dennis Dugan directed 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan', 'Benchwarmers', 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry' and 'Happy Gilmore' to name a few. Salma Hayek plays Adam Sandler's wife in the movie.

Harvey Keitel new addition to 'Little Fockers'

Remember Harvey Keitel from 'Reservoir Dogs'? He just recently been signed to cast in Little Fockers (Meet The Parents 3) with Robert DeNiro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Jessica Alba. The movie is scheduled to release next year and will be directed this time by Paul Weitz instead of Jay Roach. It would be interesting to see how the third installment would turn out with the new director since the first two were hilarious.

Countdown To '2012'

Another movie hitting the theaters this Friday is '2012' starring John Cusack. This movie talks about the end of the world since it coincides with the end of the Mayan Calendar which is December 21, 2012. Although, I don't personally believe that the world is going to end on the above mentioned date, there is a lot of hype surrounding around this movie. If you've seen the previews, some of the disaster scenes doesn't look that bad. Below are the Top 10 disaster movies in my opinion:
1. The Day After Tomorrow
2. Dante's Peak
3. Earthquake
4. Armageddon
5. Twister
6. Deep Impact
7. Perfect Storm
8. Daylight
9. Backdraft
10. Volcano
Morgan Freeman in 'The Maiden Heist'

I recently saw this straight to DVD movie called 'The Maiden Heist' which starred Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken and William Macy. It was supposed to release in theaters this year but the distributor called Yari Group International pulled the plug and filed for bankruptcy. Anyway, the movie was not bad at all. The story is about three security guards working in an art museum who each got very possessive about some artworks. After learning that the all art works in the museum is moving to Denmark, the three security guards plan a perfect heist to steal the artworks that they have gotten attach to. It's one of those feel good entertainer where you don't really expect much. What I don't understand is, what was Morgan Freeman doing in this movie. Don't get me wrong, I thought he did a decent job but I was not expecting him to be cast in a small budget film like The Maiden Heist. Although, he's one of the executive producer. The guy is a talented actor and acted in several powerful movies such as The Shawshank Redemption and Driving Miss Daisy. I've noticed recently that quite a few Morgan Freeman movies have been going straight to DVD. To name a few, there is 'The Contract' with John Cusack, another one called 'Edison' with Kevin Spacey. On the other hand, we also saw him in 'The Dark Knight', 'Wanted' and 'The Bucket List' to name a few big budget films. One is really looking forward to 'Invictus' where he plays Nelson Mandela with Matt Damon.
